Blue Beach is near Hantsport. It's name reflects the color of the stone that composes the beach.
The layered cliff face shows the effects of erosion. As we walked along the beach near the cliffs material was constantly falling to the beach below the cliff.
The cliff extends down onto the beach and out into the water at a different angle, giving the impression of a roadway. The friendly black dog accompanied us on this trek.
Fossils found here include wave ripple marks, mud cracks, and raindrop imprints. Tracks and trails of organisms (trace fossils) are common. Plant fossils, bones, teeth, scales and fin spines of fish, ostracods, and amphibian bones have been found. Footprints, including the largest fossil amphibian tracks ever found in rocks this old have also been discovered.
